I took advantage of a mid week weather window this week and visited the coromandel for a kayak fish. On the way through to Anglers Lodge I stopped in at Coromandel Fish and Kayak to pick up some local intel on the fishing. Janet and Rob shared some tips and I spied the reel cabinet. I got the pros and cons of the different reels explained, and settled on a nice Daiwa BG 3000 reel. Rob paired it with a slow pitch rod and gave me a great package price including spooling it with quality 20lb braid. I fished the following day out around the islands, and used the new Daiwa set up. I started with a soft bait as I had one sitting out and I landed a nice 40cm snapper. Within an hour and a half I had seven on board with the biggest at 60cm, and fat! The rod and reel performed beautifully, with the bigger fish taking line and towing me around before coming on board. No need to fish a second day as I had plenty of fish. Awesome trip over 3 days!. Robs shop is well stocked with tackle - jigs and soft baits etc. Their prices are as good as the big Auckland Shops and he doesn't do the hard sell - don't rule him out on quality gear and a great price! Support the locals when in the area - they really go the extra mile to help. Cheers Rob and Janet, look forward to seeing you guys when I'm next down.

Super friendly and amazing service. Recommend here if your looking to hire a kayak to experience, go at your own pace instead of the tours. Prices are also very reasonable. I hired a kayak here with my partner, we kayaked around Wyuna Bay, it was worth the experience, no people around the mornings it was like our own private area, got to roam freely and took many great photos. Had an amazing experience.

These guys were so friendly and accommodating. We couldnt bring our own gear to Coromandel so loved their Great selection of bait, lures and rods. Best part was the local knowledge of where to dip our rods. We caught so many snapper. Thanks
