Visited the Museum after walking the Rimutaka rail trail - cross creek towards the top. Entry was $6 and well worth it. I visited on Saturday and Malcolm was providing a very knowledgeable tour of the Fell engine and how it worked. This was very interesting. The whole museum is packed with history and very interesting pictures and newspaper articles. I definitely learnt a lot while there. Amazing to hear that they had to replace the break blocks every time they descended the Rimutaka incline as the break's completely wore out. Having walked and cycled the Rimutaka track I found this very interesting.

Go visit this. You will not regret it. Its a great little place, top quality exhibits well presented and explained. Only remaining Fell locomotive in the world, genuinely unique design, beautifully restored. If youre going to walk or bike the Rimutaka rail trail you should go here (first preferably) to see the engine sand all about the history and operation the rail link. We had a great visit and very informative tour guide (thank you). Child friendly/parking
