        Awesome track, not well maintained and a little tricky at the Rimutaka end but I've done it both ways now and I do suggest starting from Hine Rd in Wainuiomata. It's very neat passing through the different forest types as you ascend and descend and the ridges have amazing windswept trees. Also some of the biggest Rata I've seen between Taranaki and Wellington.
