Escarpment Vineyard

Great visit, hosted by Mark and of the 38 wineries we visited in NZ/Aus, Escarpment was one of the best and the Pahi Pinot Noir, one of the stand out wines tasted on holiday...case now purchased in UK:)

Great experience with a tour of the winery before the tasting. Was really interesting and more involved than a lot of other wineries cellar door experiences. Particularly enjoyed trying wine straight from barrel to compare.

Despite having a group booking arranged and booked weeks before arriving. We were advised there was a wedding on the day at booking but this would be fine and they could accommodate us. Upon arrival we were greeted suprisingly and told our booking was canceled due to the wedding and they could not accommodate us. They made no attempt to apologize and only after 20 minutes of standing in the rain trying to find an alternative winery did they attempt to explain the reason why they could not accommodate us. At which point we'd rearranged an alternative winery, Murilea Rise which didn't disappoint. Would recommend skipping the substandard service at escarpment cellar door.
