Pseudo-progressiveness has made this city unbearable to do any shopping or see friends or family without paying extortionate amounts on parking; knowing it will be spent in an inefficient manner is infuriating. It has become worthwhile to go to the Hutt when possible, I feel gravely sad for businesses and ratepayers who pay for this council to exist.

I would like to give more stars for customer service on the phone as I've actually had reasonably good experiences with them in this regard. I don't feel I can give more than 2 stars though as the parking in this city is absolutely predatory @$5 per hour pretty much everywhere, including severe overstaying penalties... also emailing them with any reasonable mitigating circumstances is a complete waste of time. I find it ironic that they're aiming to reduce traffic congestion in the city when I can seriously be driving around looking for a park for ~10-15mins (this is a common experience with friends & family too) Please fix the parking crisis in this city & stop being so harsh with people in regards to this, not everyone makes $40 an hour

Quite saddened by a response I received asking for a first offense waiver of a parking ticket. First night after moving here. 2 hours drive Nelson to Picton then 3 hours over on the ship. Then once landed packed a storage unit. Finally finished for the night in driving rain in a foreign city. Couldnt work out how the parking system worked or what the free weekend allocation was. Woke up the next morning to a ticket. Wrote to council officially to ask for a once-off waiver because I am new here, unaware and first and last infringement. Told plainly....No! Very unforgiving and unrealistic council. Whats more I have to give free rides to the parking wardens on the buses! Double slap

Definitely won't be returning to Wellington for a night out, shopping etc. Parking Fees to 8pm on a week night. Just greedy. How about thinking about all your Retailers & Hospitality establishments. COVID-19 has already moved a lot of people out of the City with more people taking the option to work from home.Parking Fees should cease from 6p., as it used too. Shame on you Wellington City Council & Councillours
