Unsatisfactory. Too much run around instead of resolving the issue, when a plumber does an unsatisfactory job which results in leaks and other problems.. The PGDB should be more consumer oriented to get the problem fixed and immediately sorted out. They should come and inspect the problem, instead of just sending emails and doing nothing much to resolve the issue. This used to be the case... sounds like the Consumer who pays their bills via the plumbers, isnt valued as it should be. Would be good that PGDB reviews the way they interract with the consumer and show initiative and efficiency in future. Thanks.

I believe the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board is wrongly named and is entirely a consumer protection board which is 100% funded by the industry. For those that didnt know it is a registered charity and has been given the power by the government to levy those working in the industry as they see fit. They have no performance measure regarding the health and safety of the public and all Board members are appointed by the Government. The industry has no say or representation on the Board. The Board is also the only Board in New Zealand that has been given the power to levy the industry to prosecute non registered people for doing sanitary plumbing gasfitting or drainlaying. Its funding of four million dollars annually is a total waste of money and aids in the funding of the Boards own legal section which is bigger than some small law firms.
