As a first time home buyer, I did a ton of research before deciding which insurance company to use for my home and contents insurance. I decided to go with AMP because it was cheaper--what a mistake! During the sign-up process I made a minor error (forgot to include a balcony on my policy). I called as soon as I realised the problem and I spent the next two weeks chasing up incompetent customer service staff who claimed they could not change the policy and failed to email or call back when they said they would, despite the fact that I told them about the tight timelines for my settlement date. Eventually, I asked to cancel the policy and, miraculously, the problem was fixed! I cancelled anyways--if they have these kind of problems with sales then I hate to imagine what happens when you try to make a claim.
