Sakura Sushi

5 stars for the lovely customer service and efficiency. But 1 star for the vegetarian donburi. The fritter was yum but the 'tofu' and sauce were weird and extremely sweet. I am curious about the chicken katsu that is so popular and whether its the same sauce (?) - if so I assume the chicken helps balance the sweetness. Vegetarian options: I don't recommend the veggie donburi.

Update 8th Feb 8,months since my last visit I donot believe they have equalled the previous service and food they have absolutely excelled This Japanese food is the most delicious Japanese food in New Zealand. No matter the meal the food offered excelled my expectations at every level. This shop nails japanese cuisine everytime. The staff are amazingly friendly and I know will probably eat there more as the whole package of great food good prices and great service is unequalled in NZ I truely recommend for everyone wanting to experience genuine Japanese food call in on them in lower lambton quay. I enjoyed a very delicious brunch a sakura special It was absolutely amazing it was totally authentic. I recently had a bad experience with a sushi chain in Auckland. But Sakura Sushi is the real deal. The rice was cooked perfectly and all the ingredients prepared to perfection The staff are helpful and friendly I have spent many years in Japan and have a japanese wife and she could not have prepared this meal better Totally recommend Bon Appetit everyone The Sakura Sushi is located 17 Lambton Quay on the left hand side of Lambton Quay Very central and convenient for a quick bite or a healthy lunch
