Mangaone Walkway

The first half is through a nice rain forrest with a couple of great bridges to cross the river/stream. But then there are at least two spots where you have to cross the stream on foot, where we had to climb over logs to avoid wet feet. The last half is just walking on a gravel driveway, which is not pretty and boring until you finally reach an ugly carpark. Good exercise though, ended up walking 15km in about 4 hours. Restrooms: No restrooms.

Awesome walk. The best bush/ambience is through the southern half. The northern end consists of a lot of forestry and farm tracks. The middle portion/Te Horo clearing is fantastic for bushy panoramas and a Chrystal clear river. Lots of native bush and heaps of dragon flys around. Good track and parking spots. Highly recommend for a day out.

We only walked part of the way to the little field clearing. About 45 minutes in. It was very pretty with lots of cool tree cover that provided little glimpses of the stream as we walked. There's some nice spots to sit at the clearing by the stream. The primary school aged kids managed it easily.

Truely beautiful & relatively easy bush walk across a real swing bridge & numerous other bridges up to the Te Horo clearing. Couple of swimming spots here & further down stream. Great walk. Fantastic run. Superb.
