Wellington Benchtops took on the job to correct the tops and did it the same day.
Thanks very much.

In January 2022 two side strips became delaminated over most of their length, reason unknown. The franchise principal referred me to WBT. I emailed WBT with photos of the side strips and spoke to the owner or manager. He stated that he would not honour the franchisees guarantee, as he had not been paid. This did not seem to be my problem as my job had been done five years ago. However, I stated that I was willing to pay a fair retail price to have my benches mended.
The WBT manager immediately stated that an estimate price would be $450. I explained it was only two side strips, not all (as made clear in my email) and that seemed a high price. The manager then said OK, that sounds like $120. He undertook to carry out a site inspection two days later, to be confirmed by phone. He did not ring or visit that day.
I rang back two days later. After some discussion the manager said a tradesman would come the following day and the price would be $250. I questioned why the price had changed again and attempted to clarify the nature and manner of repair. The manager claimed travel, cutting new strips and labour. I inquired why would new strips be necessary and why could the existing ones (still partly attached) not simply be reglued.
At this point the manager became irritated, accused me of telling him he did not know what he was doing, stated that he was being dicked around and that he was fed up with all this. I attempted to explain that I was simply a customer trying to clarify the extent of work and three quoted prices in two conversations. No use, he was over it, walking away and hung up.
In summary, I have a product from WBT which failed at less than half its guaranteed period. The owner or manager was unhelpful, unprofessional and rude to a customer willing to pay for repair of a guaranteed product. I do not recommend Wellington Bench Tops product or its customer service.
