(Translated by Google) The small and beautiful trail along the river is also suitable for walking children; when the weather is hot, you can walk along the river barefoot. (Original)

The majority of the track has been closed. But the part that is open take you to a very nice part of the lake. Beautiful scenery.

Lake Brunner is the largest lake on the West Coast. The water is not discoloured or polluted rather the deep ink appearance is due to the high levels of leached tannin from leaves. Its water quality is high and it is valued for its trout fishing. The Maori name for the lake is Kotuku Whakaoho, meaning the 'sea of herons'. The present name commemorates Thomas Brunner who, in 1848, became the first European to see the lake during his epic 550 day exploration of the region with Kehu and other Maori guides. The lake was formed during the last ice age. It is beautiful scenic drive with a 5km drive on gravel road but it is worth It, to do two attractions in the immediate vicinity. Seeing the 30 metre Carew Creek waterfall. I have seen a lot of waterfalls but this one is worth seeing and also do this short 15 minute Bain Bay Walk. There is no access to the start of the track, after a damaged bridge was removed, so you can only do 15 minutes of the track. However, the short walk is still worth doing in my opinion.
