It took me two months to be able to look back at my terrible experience at this petrol station again. My husband was fueling up the bike and I went to pay. I didn't know why the EfPOS was saying there would be a surcharge so I asked the staff. He was so rude and asked me to read the words on the paper. I still didn't know what was happening and he asked me to just press accepting surcharge without any other explanations. My card was a domestic debit card and I shouldn't have been charged. He shouted at me saying it's not my job to explain every time, and you should read! It was my first time being treated horribly in New Zealand and I was so shocked and sad. He kept challenging me "can you read? Do you understand?" I had to leave that shop to make sure I was safe. After seeing I explained what happened to my husband, he came outside for revenge and kept asking me whether I could read English and whether we got off the bike while fueling up. But he saw our GoPro on the bike so he said sorry unwillingly after my husband told him it was his job to explain to customers how the EFPOS works and that's what he was paid for. From March until today, I am still scared to go into a fuel station and almost all shops.

When I queried a transaction Ryan looked into it and sorted it quickly and very pleasantly. Appreciate it thanks Ryan. Fill up at Glacier Motors with confidence - good service and a bright and well stocked shop.

This garage imposes a 2.5% surcharge on fuel sales purchased with either a credit or debit card despite the NZ rule change imposed last September which capped these to 0.8% and 0.6% respectively!
