just bought a few pieces, this place offers a lot more unique variety, affordable as well, owner has character, ignore the 1 star cry babies that can't take bit of humor.

The jewels are very beautiful, sometimes raw sometimes more classic shapes, and there's choice so you ll find what you look for. I definitely love the one I chose. The owner seemed to have a strong character but nothing to see with what I read in the comments.

The woman in the store is so rude. Not hospitable at all. Walked out straight away, don't waste your time going here. Much better shops around.

The woman working there is racist. She made horrific comments about Maori, even when I told her I disagreed with her opinion. I walked out of the store. I refuse to support her income through a purchase. I was nearly speechless at such behaviour surrounded by beautiful pounamu taonga. It was an incredibly upsetting encounter. For racial context, I am white and have a Canadian accent.

Wish Id read the previous reviews before entering this shop. Worst experience on the West Coast (and the whole of New Zealand) so far, the shop owner is extremely rude and looking for a way to argue. Please dont waste your time, energy and money on this person. We went to Hokitika Craft Gallery instead, where my partner bought the most beautiful pounamu.
