Let me start this review off by saying that candle creations are in my experience, the most affordable & high quality candle materials suppliers in New Zealand with the largest catalogue of equipment and a friendly, professional team. However, I today had my first negative encounter that has left me quite angry. My partner and I own a small, growing candle business. Late last month I went out and my partner kindly filled a large batch of candles consisting of two orders from businesses we supply to on a very regular basis. This order took a whole 22.7 kg box of the GW415 and many hours of her day. Upon returning home, I realised that the wicks across the batch looked to be very different thicknesses despite her having used only the single packet of ACS 9.9 cotton wicks to fill them. Upon burn testing one, the wax melted out to only approximately a 5cm diameter despite the claim that these wicks are suited for vessels with a diameter of 9.5-10.5cm, so the true burn diameter was half of what it was claimed to be. Unsatisfied, over the next few days we burn tested upwards of 30% of the batch to try understand where the inconsistencies were occurring. This proved that a few of the candles burned correctly while the large majority tunneled at around 5cm even after 5+ hours of burning. We then spent days creating testers with all our various wicks and discovered that the ACS 7.5 wicks we're also underperforming but every other wick was fine. I went to the warehouse today to show them the second pack of ACS 9.9 wicks that contained wicks of all different sizes, colours and coatings, and ask how they could ameliorate the situation. Upon speaking with Rob the warehouse manager, he wasn't very considerate and brushed off the severe difficulties we had dealt with from this situation and offered only to replace the two culprit packs of 9.9's After getting me these packs, he disappeared into the warehouse and did not come back. I spoke with Frankie, an absolutely wonderful staff member, and asked if they could offer more for me. I heard her speak with Rob and when she came back she said the most they could do was a $20 store credit. Seeing my visible frustration, Frankie quietly offered me a second $20 store credit. While I do appreciate the efforts that were made, $40 credit does very little in the way of making up for the countless hours across many days spent burn testing what should have been ready to go product, stabbing a whole box worth of wax out of the remaining candles to remake more testers. Cleaning, refilling and using a new pack of wicks again just to get back to the point we were at initially. All while having the businesses we supply to question where their products were. There are enough variables in candle making as it is, let alone having to question if the materials from your suppliers are consistent or faulty. I intend on continuing to deal with candle creations for the numerous reasons initially mentioned but am severely disheartened with the outcome of this situation and know that I will have to be watching for their mistakes moving forward so as to avoid this occuring again. I wish not to diminish the incredible reputation this well deserving company has built, but do suggest that people inspect closely the wicks they purchase from here and burn testers for every batch of candles they make so as to avoid days of confusion, loss of product, and reputation with very little effort from these guys to compensate for the consequences of their mistakes.
