Friendly and helpful staff! Our flight arrived 1am, they were very helpful for allowing self check-in motorhome. One of the most affordable motorhomes in Auckland.

My husband and I rented a Ford Transit, 2 sleeper with shower and toilet. Unlike a lot of people here we had no major issues with our van, some minor issues, but we enjoyed our 34 days cruising through North and South Islands. The only thing we were not too happy about was the communication during the rental. On a second day a break issue lamp went on and we emailed about it, if they want us to check it. We took full insurance, so we were waiting for a address where should we go to to have it checked, but it never came. My husband has knowledge about cars, so the breaks worked well and we didnt feel unsafe, but something that Tui/Freedom Campers could work on in the future, it would probably take a lot of negative reviews away ;)

My family and I went for the cheapest 4-sleeper van, a van from 2008. It was quite conveniently arranged and video explanations about how to use it were rather clear. Such a van had obviously lived some adventures and no one should expect something feeling brand new. Still, some fixes felt a bit poor e.g. the table was unstable because a screw did not hold still. We would have expected some better fixes (e.g. filling the screw's hole to make the table stable) but may have too high expectations and were still overall happy with the van. But, more importantly, we have been extremely satisfied with the company's support as we faced difficulties: our return ferry to the North Island was cancelled due to weather conditions, which was a very stressful situation (need to find an alternative plan for both the van and ourselves, as ferries were fully booked for several weeks), and Tui Campers was very helpful and offered us to return the van to the South Island office with no other fee than the standard one-way fee while this was obviously messing up their plans as much as ours. We made our best to return the van as soon as possible, hoping it helped, and took a domestic flight from Christchurch, to come back home on time. Thank you very much for being so supportive! We did not realise it before coming to NZ but the ferries are not that reliable (the second one was cancelled, the first one was several hours late and there is an ongoing legal action as many people were badly affected by multiple cancellations): we would thus recommend travellers to rent different cars on each island and fly between islands, which may be less convenient with some regards but also prevent much stress.
