Hitch Car Rentals

We booked the car half year earlier before we used it. The price is relatively good. During the pcikup, waiting time was rather long and we got surprisingly an 11-year old Mitsubishi Outlander. We doubt if we could keep driving for a 4-week trip from Auckland to Christchurch but the car was loyal to us and insisted to our final destination - Christchurch Airport. For newcomers perhaps to note that cheap cars of Hitch are relatively old ones.

In general all was ok, car was better than we expected. But the big problem was the strong smoke smell incide the cabin. We travelled with small kids and they suffered much. Staff didn't notify us about it, and didn't suggest another car, although they saw kids, don't know why. Otherwise no complaints.

Terrible service would never use! Arranged an afterhours pick up, followed the instructions for the pick up to find no one at the facility and no car to collect. Tried calling afterhours number close to ten times with no answer. By this time it was 9pm and I was in a dark car park on my own with no car. Had to taxi back to the airport terminal to rent a car from another company which cost me a lot of money but did not have an option as I was not staying in Auckland. Have emailed multiple times and had no explanation on why this happened!
