PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU CONSIDER...!!!!! Primarily, we chose to go to Shakti home safety because of the abusive relationship my parents were in before they separated and my mum became a single mum and had to look out for 4 children on her own, therefore the police suggested this place for us. The first red flag was when the two Indian women who were responsible for picking us up and dropping us to Shakti were 40-45 minutes late. We were mildly annoyed and concerned although we didn't think too much of it. Later wards they arrived after more than half an hour and they were in an absolute rush, they didn't even greet us or apologize for the inconvenience !! We ignored this too, although the second red flag was when how cramped the car was. We had to really really squeeze all of our stuff we needed in the car. We felt so squashed that my mum had to HOLD my nearly 2 year old brother for the whole drive, because they didn't even bother providing us with a child safety seat for my little brother even though my mum called them earlier and informed them that our one was broken and they promised to bring one because it wasn't safe and also because it would be illegal without one. They didn't bring one. This was very distressing and unsafe. Anyway, my little brother was wriggling the entire time and was making it really hard for my mum. Eventually when we arrived to Shakti home safety, we were absolutely in shock before we even entered the place. Almost immediately, there was an revolting and horrendous smell that surrounded the place. It smelled as if there were rotting, dead animals all around the place. Not to mention, that the service and support was so incredibly horrible and unorganised. It was me, my 2 sisters, mum, and my 1 and a half year old little brother. We had to stand in a corner for atleast 15-20 minutes just waiting for customer support and my mum was exhausted having to carry my little brother because the floor was too dirty for him to even stand on!. What makes it worse is we were the only "customers" there too. And they still made us wait for ages before someone FINALLY came to supervise us and show us around. The nauseating smell still didn't go away and when one woman showed us one of the rooms, me and my family flinched as soon as she opened the door. Firstly, the room was absolutely TINY. It was so small. And incredibly unpleasant to be in. The furniture was so dirty and old, The sheets were so stale and filthy. Everything in the room was so gross! the floor also looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for months. Anyways, there was very little storage for us to put our stuff in and when they even had to put my mum and little brother in a completely different room because of how small it was. We had no words at all when they showed us the second room. It was just as tiny, and there was no crib for my little brother. The blankets on the bed that were supposed to be for my mum was horrendous. The food they had was all expired from atleast 2-3 months ago. Finally, we all had enough and decided to leave and the "staff" were pretty stubborn and rude when they heard this. It took them another 20-25 minutes just to confirm we were going back home and they were still very rude throughout the whole drive, plus my little brother still wasn't provided with a car safety seat. The first woman driving was driving very dangerously and even drove into the gate and she wasn't taking it very seriously as she was laughing even while crashing. She was driving so poorly that another Indian woman had to come and take her place in order to drive us safely back home. And, that was how me and my family's visit to Shakti community safety home was. We didn't even last 2 hours. Note: This review has been written by a 13 year old.
