New Wave NZ Surfboards

I was given a board a few years ago by an old surfer in Australia, who had got crook & had to give up surfing due to ill health. He designed the board (8ft) with an old shaper mate of his, that would suit elderly & aging short board riders. I think only about half dozen of these boards were made (for similar aged mates). I have used this board for a few years now both in NZ & up in PNG. It is easy to paddle, & great to catch waves & performs well in any surf conditions (2-6ft to hollow reef breaks). I took it up to PNG again this year & was worried that if I damaged or lost the board (in transit etc), I wouldnt be able to find another as good. I went to the guys at New Wave to see it they could duplicate this board (for a spare). They made me a new board that looks identical - but ended up with much more! It is now me go to board and is faster & more responsive than the original. (Photos attached). Rach, Vish and Ralph really delivered for me - thanks guys! If you are getting a bit old in the tooth & need a small long board like this, that is responsive, easy to paddle & catch any sort of waves, go and see the team at New Wave & they will sort it for you. Thanks New Wave Gisborne, the front counter lady was excellent to deal with and gave me information on different products including surfboards even pointed out that they made custom boards to suit from experience top of the line staff. Everyone was very friendly with a awesome smile and welcoming feel.. Thanks once again, I will be back.

Amazing experience! We booked lessons and were able to try surfing for the first time. They were able to provide so much knowledge and they were extremely friendly and accommodating!! Highly recommend!!

My sister and I had private lessons with Vish. He was such an amazing teacher, and had us both up and riding waves in no time! Rachael was a pleasure to talk to while booking the lessons and upon check in. I cannot say enough good things about how much fun we had, and how accommodating and helpful they both were. Highly recommend New Wave Surf for lessons!!

The New Wave team are friendly, helpful and have many years of Gisborne surf and shaping experience. They were able to design me boards based on a better understanding of what I needed than I had (!) and those boards are amazing, plus they get compliments at the beach for their shape. New Wave is the place to go in Gisborne for your custom board desires.
