Great place to take the kids. Fossils of shellfish also in the cave which I find weird.

(Translated by Google) the way to the cave is more difficult not only for the car after the rains, I recommend high-quality light and a helmet for going through the cave itself. But the experience with Arachnocampa Luminosa (luminous larvae) is really worth a visit.

Best cave in North island! It's literally in the middle of no where so you won't meet any one making noise. It's beautiful and reserved. Lots of pathways inside, I spent about 1 hour in there. Freezing cold water, crawled through it on my stomach to see more of the cave and boy was it ever worth it! Highly recommended! The road to get there is a LONG gravel road full of potholes everywhere, non-maintained. I was driving a small 1.5L 5-door hatchback and made it no problem, though if your driving skills are average, maybe this is not for you. Or you can bring a 4wd and be done with it lol. I'm not kidding, some potholes could really wreck your suspension, always think about how to get back before going in! Good life advice in general tbh.

Im a total caving beginnerI loved that cave. The way down the street was really rough but my mini van did it. But I guess you need some driving skills. The cave got many side holes and you can get lost easily. At one point I was lost and got a bit panic because I saw a the walls and the top little trees and Gras so It was clear that the cave was under water not long time ago. If you have no experience in caving I wouldnt go in there alone.also you need a helmet
