        I passed through here but didn't stay in December 2021. Taipo Hut is in a spectacular area on Mavora Lakes Walkway. The hut itself is pretty nice - light and airy. Nice in fine weather but exposed in bad. One reason I decided not to stay is the water was unavailable because the storage tank was turned off. For TA NoBo's, around the saddle there's a swamp to cross on the way to Greenstone Hut. Beware at the saddle; it is easy to go the wrong way. The TA goes down the true left but it is easy to find yourself on the old stock route on the other side of the stream, with no way back. The two tracks join again about 4km downstream.
