        The swingbridge at Kiwi Burn Car Park saves you getting your feet wet (or being swept away in a flood) in the ford about 1km downstream. There's also a standard DoC long drop toilet nearby. On the other side of the river you enter the forest and join South Mavora Walking Track, part of the Te Araroa.

        Car park itself is great. However you literally walk 2/3 more than you need to to the Kiwi Burn hut from there. It's good if you want a longer walk, but something useful to know.
