Taigh Na Mara Bed & Breakfast

We had a wonderful time here. We are a family of 4, traveling with a 3 year old and an infant (lovely cot). Next door is a playground and we had a beautiful afternoon at the beach just across the road. Carol is a fantastic host and cook. Carol very accommodating for non meat eaters. The homemade ice cream is to die for; so good our toddler fell asleep while eating it and managed to continue eating it while simultaneously snoring!

(Translated by Google) Carol's B&B is as described and shown in the pictures. I slept great and even had homemade jam and freshly sliced fruit for breakfast. The location is great and some of the beaches around are real gems. Carol is a very friendly, accommodating and helpful host. I thank her for the stay and would definitely come back. (Original) Carols B&B ist wie beschrieben und auf den Bildern zu sehen ist. Ich habe super geschlafen, und zum Frhstck gab es sogar selbstgemachte Marmelade und frisch aufgeschnittene Frchte. Die Lage ist groartig, und einige Strnde rundherum sind wahre Juwelen. Carol ist eine sehr freundliche, entgegenkommende und hilfsbereite Gastgeberin. Ich danke ihr fr den Aufenthalt und wrde definitiv wiederkommen.

Our travel agent recommended Taigh na Mara and were glad he did! Perhaps a key reason was our brief to be able to swim in the sea and its so easy to do so from this B&B. The lovely sandy beach is just across the road and only three minutes walk from your bedroom door. Even better our hostess Carol goes for an early evening swim most days, as do friends of hers, so theres company in the water! Carol was also very helpful with her local knowledge. This was especially important as our visit was at the tail end of the post-cyclone road closures. She also recommended Lukes Kitchen and the Ocean Leopard Boat tour, both of which we booked and very much enjoyed. Carol did a load of laundry for us and wouldnt accept more than NZ$5 (we suggested she put her price up given thats what many a hotel would charge for a single garment!) And then theres the breakfast fruit salad, muesli, and quite delicious homemade bread enhanced (if thats possible) with scrambled eggs or a range of preserves. As you will have gathered Carol is a great hostess and youre assured of a very warm welcome.
