Overall, lovely people. That said, this restaurant has an identity crisis. The name suggested a deconstructed, rather complex menu, in terms of taste. It's not. Its basic stuff, and they don't do it very well. For the price tag, it needs to be way better. My husbands curry was better than our food. The salmon was badly cooked. I think they could stick to a particular cuisine and maybe perfect it. The decor is as confused. But, the service and friendliness of staff was great. Hopefully, they find their feet, change the decor, and streamline their menu to perfect their craft and, probably, rename the restaurant as its really pretentious of what is essentially, very basic food for high prices. We felt a tad cheated with the name, cost, and how average - bad the food was. We have family here in NZ but travelled from Australia. Thanks

We went for dinner and had the pasta of the day on our way back up north from whitianga. The server, also an aspiring paramedic, was an absolute ball! Amazing banter, great explanations, and most of all, unmatched service. Only downpoint is that I would recommend that she try more dishes available. I would have loved some personal recommendations/opinions. Overall though 10/10 will be back!

The owner clearly hasnt seen Gordon Ramsays kitchen nightmares or hed understand that having so many options on a menu is never a good idea. Seafood chowder was pure butter, had ham in it and seafood was overcooked. Garlic prawns with sweet chilli sauce - nicely cooked prawns but ruined with so much sweet chilli. The decor was an interesting choice with wall to wall stuffed animals & skins which screams 70s ski chalet more than it does upmarket restaurant.
