Silver Fern Lodge

Worst hotel I've had in NZ! The staff ignored when I spoke but would answer my friend. We asked twice for linen for the sofa bed that was full of stains, they didn't seem to understand. An hour later we asked again he walked to the room put the sofa cushions back on and thought that was fine. When we finally got linen it was a sheet and scratchy picnic blanket. So I had to buy a blanket. And just to top of the stay they would glare at me everytime I walked through reception.

I would not recommend this horrible place to anyone. It runs down badly, everything were broken, staffs are unfriendly, house keepers can not speak English - a worst backpacker place on earth. The room is dirty, smelly and cold, has broken bedside tables, badly torn, dirty and smelly curtains, and a tiny oil column heater could not heat the very cold room and broken wheels/legs unable to move it around, has no couch to sit on and no bedside lamp as seen in the photos. Overall, it was a very uncomfortable room. Don't believe the photos of the rooms you see advertised online to book your stay because such beautiful room in the photos don't exist in this place. These photos are for advertisement only to mislead you. If you base on these photos and book and think you will get a room like that then you will be very disappointed, your trip will be ruined, because Silver Fern Lodge don't have such rooms advertised but rooms in poor conditions mentioned above. So, beware of Silver Fern Lodge photo misleading advertisement when you book a room here!!!
