I am giving this score because my experience with this rentals was terrible. I booked a vehicle trough DISCOVERY cars, I paid 800 dollars for a vehicle (KIA Rio o similar), when I arrived at EZU to pick up the car, I got a Nissan Tiida, valued on 600 dollars, when I complained to them, there was not clear answer, other than it was a similar car to the one I booked, and that whoever pays more, get a different car, and if I wanted to change the car, I have to pay even more... I took the car because I did not have more options, the car was dirty, scratched, old, and I had concerns about the safety of the car... so, definitely not a good rentals, what a scam, do not make your bookings with them.

I have never had a rental car with close to 300,000 kilometers on the odometer. Granted, the van made it through the trip without breaking down, but the car interior smelled like vomit upon pick up, the exterior of the car looked like it had been run for 300k kms, and was of course attempted to be charged extra upon drop off at the Queenstown location for damages. Thankfully I had a video when we picked up the car (make sure you do this!) to prove we weren't responsible for the damage. Also booked with my Amex card, was not told anything in my confirmation email that they only take Visa or Mastercard, so thankfully I had another card with me.

The car worked fine but it wasn't in great shape..then they hassled me for pre existing damage when I returned the car. make sure you take TONS of photos of the car from every angle if you're going to rent from this company.

We rented for 9 days in South Island. Like many others, I also received a car from Ezu which was quite old. In addition, the car was not even what I asked for. Alphard 2008 and Alphard 2011 are different categories on Ezu website and I booked a 2011 car. They gave me a 2008, which I realized because in NZ, the car model is specified on the windscreen. (pics attached!) The story began here - Ezu gave various excuses to justify that they gave me the right car, when they did not. Extremely poor communication. And the only two options they gave me were - return the car if I am not happy, or upgrade to a Toyota Alphard 2017, for NZD 500 a day! Just to put things in perspective, on the website, a 2017 model is about 150 a day more expensive than 2011 - extremely opportunistic on the part of EZU. Any half decent company would upgrade at standard rate or a lower rate for customer satisfaction! I would not recommend this company to anyone. We rented a brand new Kia Carnival for the same price with Ace rental in Auckland - I highly recommend them - great service and good vehicles! Finally I would add - several five star reviews on this company are obviously fake and paid - see if uou can spot them!
