Tasman Bay Backpackers

There were lots of working holiday backpackers staying here at the time which meant the kitchen was utter chaos from 5:30-7:30 and it was really cliquey. A fire alarm went off in the middle of the night which made for not a great night. Great place for working travellors but wouldn't recommend if you want a quiet night sleep or wanting to cook your food. Lots of noisy people.

Great place to spend a few days in Nelson. Really great location. The hostel is walking distance to town and the nearest supermarket. Well within riding distance to the nearest MTB park and any local homes you would like to do. There is a secure shed to store your mountain bike. Parking is limited to 6-7 spaces on the property but there is plenty of free parking on the street which is quiet and safe. The facilities are in good condition and are plentiful so you don't have to wait long to use them. My dorm room was quite hot at night even with the small windows open. Possibly installing a window that opens more might help or it could have just been the local weather at the time of my stay (March). All and all I would highly recommend staying here as everyone is very friendly including the staff. The free chocolate dessert at night is a great touch as well as the simple free spices and such that is provided.
