Rooms: Ranch slider very stiff to open and hard to lock, some window latches broken off, mattress over hangs bed base. Walkability: It's at the top of a extremely steep hill and down a steep pot holed driveway, a 30 minute walk into the town centre

Addendum: NO HOT WATER WHEN EVERYONE HAS HAD A SHOWER! First place I've ever stayed in that ran out of hot water! Pathetic !!!!!!! Where do I begin? Arrived at reception and waited 15 minutes until a woman appeared. Room 17; faces west. Courtyard is in full sun and supplied umbrella is useless due to base being broken. Lamps in room were unplugged by us due to exposed wiring being a lethal hazard. Exhaust fan in kitchen does not work. Unit smelled of curry. Bathroom shower mixer is the weirdest device I've ever seen. Wall clock not working. TV is pointless due to laughable image quality. No outdoor lighting. Sounds of upstairs guest running water, showers and toilet. Swimming pool stairs missing three rings making it near on impossible to get out safely. If it wasn't for the fact the place cost less than $100 a night I'd have asked for a refund and stated elsewhere (the cemetery next door had no vacancies). Not the best advertisement for Paihia, but if you only need a place to stow your bags, have a shower and a bed to sleep in then it's a cheap alternative to staying at a backpacker lodge.
