(Translated by Google) We stayed at The Waters for 2 nights at the end of our 4 week tour of New Zealand. Of the 13 accommodations we booked during this time, this was the absolute highlight. Of course, the indescribable location directly on the sea, the extremely well-kept complex with olive groves and grapevines, the loving equipment (starting with the furniture, towels, bathrobes, toiletries, crockery... to list only the most important things here) but above all the friendly general manager Mathias and his partner Mareike made this an unforgettable stay. Since it was Christmas and on 25.12. When all the restaurants were closed, we ate the 3-course menu offered by the hotel on our terrace overlooking the sea. Everything perfect. We thank them both for this extraordinary Christmas that will always remain in our memories.

Wonderful location and ocean views from this accommodation, with a short stroll to the beach. We experienced a lacklustre greeting from the hosts, of whom I had to ask their names, Francesco and Elena. The standard of accommodation is high, however its neither B&B nor self-catering, a combination of elements of both, which didnt work for us. If you use the dishes for dinner, then you have to take them to a communal dishwasher which means you have to go and collect them for next mornings breakfast. You only have a bathroom sink, no dishwash liquid, dishcloth, or dish towel. The Waters does evening meals; we were promised a menu, but it never materialised. Both the website and compendium appear to be in need of updating as they both refer to the previous owners/managers. We did not sleep too well on the first night as we could hear the road noise from SH60 across the water. Next morning, we realised the high window was open, so we closed it using a chair to stand on. The winery tour Francesco booked us on was very good (Bay Tours). We were extremely disappointed to later discover that Francesco had added a $10 booking fee per person which was never mentioned. Weve never encountered this practice before, we dont believe its common throughout NZ, so if you decide to stay at The Waters its wise to arrange your own trips.

My husband and I are currently staying at The Waters. Our hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We arrived home from dinner at Mapua to lovely fresh towels in our bathroom, the rubbish disposed of and our lovelly breakfast awaiting in the fridge for the morning. Would certainly recommend as a must do if you are travelling through to Abel Tasman.

We booked for the one night's stay at relatively short notice. The two Italian hosts are the nicest and most accomodating people you could meet. Really made the stay very special. The Italian dinner they cooked was really FANTASTIC. Can't fault the location and accommodation - everything perfecto! Thanks, guys for being so amazing in this wonderful bit of paradise. You made two people very very happy. We'll be back!! R and M
